Well, as the author you can choose your Copyright tag - maybe you'd like to use {{Cc-by-2.5}} for example. Besides, you can upload the pictures directly to here too... I also suggest you that when you write in a talk page, sign by using ~~~~ for getting a link to your userpage and time of writing.

I don't know the source of the picture posted on the Romanian wikipedia and on Commons. The picture is almost 80 years old. I have an extensive archive with old images of Romanian cities (starting from 1850), especially Cluj-Napoca, and there is where I have the image. I haven't uploaded anything in months, and those (were) all used in articles (see this and) See images history. ('Just category' Edits struck out)... I'm not sure where or how you'd know they were linked in any event, as what happens in an en.wp article seems not to show as a link herein. Do explain please what more you mean by links.

Links means categorising the image, or even adding it to a gallery. For example - Image:Stapp hits the brakes, hard.gif isn't used anywhere in the commons. Most of the times I'm using the gallery tool for checking the images, though sometimes it can't reveal the category...

Re:[edit] The images are too large..

I've uploaded all the images at the same scale - usually 250 meters or (much less commonly) 500 meters. The full-sized images are best used with Photoshop, although I used a different program to convert all the progressive jpegs and make them all more compatible with Wikipedia's software.

We've been trying to keep them at the same resoltion. There are issues with borders and other nasty things popping up in the thumbnails created here, and the effects are lessened by using the largest scale pictures. I have, however, provided links on all of them to where you can find smaller versions of each image. I hope that helps. Good kitty 19:14, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

Why not the other way? Try to upload a small version (though 1024x768 isn't that small), for using in the wikipedia ans such, and when you need the full scale version, you can dowload it directly from the web site... Yuval Y § Chat § 19:18, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

Just to let you know: I deleted File:Hamlet-PuraVida.jpg uploaded by User:Kumho; it was just deleted for missing source information, and he then re-uploaded it. I've warned him, since he's likely to just keep uploading whenever it's deleted. Cnyborg 00:35, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

I saw that he had uploaded the same image again, that's why I used the {{Please tag images}} messege, for telling him exactly what's wrong, and what to do next time. You know, it's not enough to warn, you could (sould?) also explain. Now that I've explained him, and you warned him, the next time he'll upload an image without any information, he'd get kicked or something.

About Astats.jpg

Hello, I'm japanese wikipedian. An illegal up-loading act to this image happened in jawp, and this image is deleted. The image lv:image:Astats.jpg has no source/license. And Exif information on this image is the same as the image [1]. Mr.Fred Bayer who is the web master of this site, did not show any license. ---Redattore 15:57, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

Yep... they're mostly for a wikibook on gardening, but also for en.wikipedia articles. I actually make a lot of galleries out of other people's unlinked images, so I'm familiar with the issue.

When you placed a direct link to the picture, no one can know anything about the photographer, or the copyright, which is very importance in the commons, since you can only place free pictures here. I'm not sure about the source of xPassenger's pictures, since they marked as copyrighted by S. Borsje, which I hope is xPassenger's real name...

Think about it - if all those question are asked for a cc-by-sa picture found in Flickr, what would happen if you place a direct link to a picture you've found in Google..?

Both of the links are fine, but I guess that the one I gave is better, since you can check if the user have another interesting pictures, etc.
